We have been in partnership with Post City since 2016, and have addressed a wide variety of post-production demands, that cater for the international Market, as well as some local high end productions. Since Cape Town has become a major film location for international features, it was observed, that most of the post-production work would still leave the country, to be serviced by various overseas facilities and professionals. We have brought a group of highly skilled and internationally acclaimed professionals together, to form a team that can compete with international teams and facilities. We focus on the entire spectrum of filmmaking including pre and post production, on set, producing, directing, data management, and workflow management. In the post production department, we have work flow supervisors, facility managers, offline and online editors in our team, as well as colorists, animators, VFX artists, conceptual artists and storyboard artists.

We take great pride in the fact, that production quality, and client satisfaction is our main priority. We aim to deliver all our projects on time, and within budget, aiming to communicate effectively in the stormy landscape, of film post production. We have a very effective online workflow management system, that can track the progress of all aspects of the workflow effectively, and accurately, in order to give credible feedback to the customer in terms of progress, milestones, and many more deliverables, on an ongoing basis.

Our World class facilities constitute of 4 studios, 2 in Johannesburg and 2 in Cape Town. All our facilities are linked and integrated via high-speed broadband, in order to ensure coherence, and smooth workflow for our distributed model. Q-STUDIOS – THE BIGGEST IN GAUTENG

Q-Studios is a Television & Film Facility, comprising two Large Studios, flanked by two Service Units,
altogether 3,000 m2 under one roof. Centrally situated in a prime position in Kew, with easy access to M1, N3,
and Airport, they are indeed the biggest, privately owned studios in Gauteng.

Over 30 years ago, Q-Studios started up as Unit 1, a warehouse-turned studio within a complex of seven units.
Everyone in Joburg (Johannesburg) involved in the TV Industry knew and had worked in Unit 1, a 900 m2 studio, at one time or other!
Even years before that, Avi Learner, an international filmmaker, had shot movies in the complex, now known as Q-Corner.

In 2006 Unit 2 was upgraded into a soundproof studio and Q-Studios was born.
To accommodate a telenovela in 2015, Unit 3, formerly a photographic studio, was sound treated.
Unit 1 was changed into a Service Unit, comprising Green rooms, offices, actors cubicles, change rooms,
ablution facilities, hair & makeup. A 300 m2 Green Screen Studio with U-Shaped Infinity Curve was
retained at the back of the unit. Unit 4, comprising offices, makeup room, catering facility and ablution
now services Studio 3.

Since 2006 countless local and international movies, TV and Game Shows,
Telenovelas and Commercials were filmed at Q-Studios.

OWNER’S COMMENTS

“When I took on the studios, I not only wanted to restore them, but I also dreamt
of doing more – of creating a business venture which could include the community and
be good for the area and filmmakers.

From the outset, I have been in constant communication with the communities of Alexandra and Kew.
Q-Studios is actively involved in the Kew Action Group, whose mission statement is
“Committed to create a cleaner, safer Kew.”
